Ashville Tourist 2 Sand Gnats 0


The Ashville Tourists returned to Grayson Stadium Thursday evening to start the first game of a 5 game series with the Savannah Sand Gnats.
Tourist starting pitcher, Tyler Matzek, did not allow a hit in his 52/3 innings of work and walked 5 and struck out 5(he struck out the side in the 4th). Matzek is ranked by Baseball America Prospect Handbook(2010) as the number one prospect in the Colorado Rockies organization.
The Gnats managed only two hits from the 4 Tourist relievers:2bAlonso Harris got the first hit when he singled in the 7th and cfPedro Zapata doubled in the 8th inning.
The Tourist scored their first run in the 5th when cJose Gonzales singled and would score on a throwing error by the catcher. Ashville added another run in the 9th inning.
The announced attendance was 2,712.
