Sand Gnats 6 Rome Braves 2
The second game of the four game series between the Rome Braves and the Savannah Sand Gnats was played Thursday evening at Grayson Stadium.
Braves scored their first run of the game in the 7th when 3B Jordan Kreke drove in a run with a single. Rome scored their final run in the game in the 9th on two singles and a hit batter to load the bases and ss Mycal Jones was hit by a pitch to score a run.
Gnats scored two runs in the 3rd when Alex Gregory led off the inning with a double and Alonso Harris singled and both scored on a double by Wilmer Flores.
In the 5th, Gnats scored three runs. Pedro Zapata led off the inning with a single, Flores singled. Zapata scored from third on a pass ball. Jefry Marte reached first on an error. A double by Kai Gronauer scored Flores and Marte.
The Gnats had 10 hits for the game: Wilmer Flores, who entered the game hitting .331, singled twice and doubled and was 3-for-4, increased his average to .343. Alex Gregory went 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run scored.
Sand Gnat starting pitcher, Brandon Moore had a solid performance pitching 7 innings, gave up 1 run on 5 hits, 1BB and striking out six to win his second game of the season. Collin McHugh pitched 2 innings, giving up 1 run on 2hits, striking out 4 and hit two batters.
The announced attendance was 2,777.
